Early this morning the Lord brought me back to a scripture that I was pouring over on this day just 3 years ago in 2021. Matthew 7:24-27.
A few hours later, while homeschooling my daughter, lo and behold I see Matthew 7:24-27 written into the lesson for the day.
Don’t you love how clearly the Lord speaks?
Let’s read:
Build Your House on the Rock
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” - Matthew 7:24-27
In the past few years the Lord has highlighted to me the wise and foolish virgins out of Matthew 25. This morning though, the Lord began speaking to be about the wise and foolish builders.
There are two builders here who heard the words of the Lord, but only one of the two builders built with his eyes set on heaven. The other built for the world, as if he would live here forever.
Beloved, while many will long for the comfort of the sandy shores and the lullabies of the soft, crashing waves, those shores, as appealing as they are, will fail to ever secure a builder and his house when threatened in a storm.
But there is a rock provided to you to build your house upon, so that you and your house and foundation may stand and not crumble. A rock that is not of this world. This rock is the man Christ Jesus.
There is a remnant who knows how to build on the Rock, with their hopes planted in Him. There is a remnant who will tell you the testimonies of how building upon this Rock tested them, refined them and purified them and how it secured their hopes to remain in Christ alone, our Chief Cornerstone!
Beloved, there are storms coming.
The storms will test your building and they will discover your foundation.
What is your hope built upon? Who is your hope?
The houses built on those sandy shores will fall and great will be their falling away.
The Great Apostasy + The Great Falling Away
2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 says, “The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
Notice how “the coming of the lawless one” will come with all power, signs and lying wonders. The Lord will not be mocked and He will send strong delusion to every person who takes pleasure in unrighteousness.
Beloved, do not be deceived by the lawless one in the days of building.
Stand fast upon the Cornerstone. Stand fast in the truth of His word. Build wisely with a reverent fear of the Lord. May He comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work for the coming days.
An Exhortation to The Wise Builder:
Wise builder, whose eyes are fixed upon the Rock, hold fast to the hope set before you.
“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.” - Hebrews 6:19-20
When the rains, floods and winds beat against you, I pray that the words of this hymn will become your declaration of hope and peace:
My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus' name
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
When darkness veils His lovely face
I'll rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy day
My anchor holds within the veil
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh, may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
